Women in Science - Visual storytelling and adapting to Covid 19 restrictions

As we were in the middle of Level 5 restrictions, due to Covid-19, the challenge was around how we could actually create this. I decided upon a remotely-directed self-portrait and used a DJI Mavic Air II to get drone footage. Thus allowing a photoshoot and a campaign to go ahead without being impacted by the severe restrictions currently being placed on photographers. 2020 - A year in review - Part four

Despite having a good second half of the year with families booking sessions, Covid 19 restrictions had massively impacted my ability to make a steady income. With the help of Údarás na Gaeltachta I was able to receive a grant which helped me develop my existing website to have e-commerce capabilities. I was finally ready to take online bookings and sell my images as prints.

As 2020 brought limited social interactions all of my family and branding work had to be postponed or unfortunately cancelled. We went from Stay at Home to Stay Local from March until the end of June. I had to reassess what photography I could offer to allow me to work as the restrictions eased.

2020 - a year in review - part one

My maternity leave was finishing the week lockdown was first enforced. All booked work was cancelled and I realised that all plans for 2020 were slowly crumbling. With no idea of how the year would go, I reverted to the photography I love and started a small black and white documentary series within my 2km restricted area.
