Source to plate

While we are in the middle of a global pandemic our world is changing drastically and there is a real movement towards supporting local businesses and suppliers. Many restaurants and supplies already do this and I can help you tell the story of how your product or meal gets to the table.

For restaurants I can photograph ingredients from the source to the plate. For suppliers I can photography the first stage of production to the finished product. This first stage includes photographing the local fisherman catching the lobster which will become a signature dish at your restaurant. The second stage can include the prepping, cooking and serving of the lobster in your restaurant. This is shown here with the oysters at Oyster Bar at the Galway Races.

The idea of this sequence is to help restaurants market the dining experience as using local produce and supporting local businesses, to create a world class dining experience.

A similar sequence can be used for supermarkets and suppliers. To discuss how we can best tell your story do get in touch.

SEAFEST 2018

During Seafest I aimed to document what the sea means to the many shareholders who were part of the make-up of the festival which took place in Galway, in 2018. This was achieved through a photographic series of portraits and the simple question; “What does the sea mean to you?”

The festival is a national event run by the Marine Institute of Ireland. It has both a regional, national and global audience. It aims are to educate, inspire, invigorate and remind us all of our Ocean’s wealth. Images needed to convey a sense of joy, knowledge and depth. Images were used during their social media coverage and with national press.

What initially began as a festival sequence developed to include many workers of the Marine Institute. After the festival the images were still used, firstly to create a 52 week calendar to send and they still continue to use the images over two years later.

All photos were taken outdoors using natural light. Images will be supplied in two file sizes: large for visual projections and print, and small for social media.

For the social media campaign I condensed the answer to the question into a concise quote which was layered on top of the image. A Seafest, and later a Marine Institute logo, was also added.

To me, the sea has always represented freedom and opportunities. I feel a sense of belonging at the water’s edge. To work with the Marine Institute was a pleasure and I continue to work with them today.

Faces of galway

Photographic series of 100 Strangers Faces.

After a move to Galway, Ireland from London, I partook in a Facebook photography group; 100 strangers. The aim was to approach 100 strangers and take their portrait. As I started photographing these strangers I quickly found out that they all had a story to tell. It gave me the idea to set up my 100 Faces of Galway project where I would take a portrait and discover the story behind the face. For the majority of people these were chance meetings and I had no prior knowledge of the person, occasionally I would know of the person I met but the story was organic to our short meeting.

All portraits were taken using a 35mm Canon Lens and a Canon 5d Mark II

LOOKING OUT

A series of photography amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Covid-19 Pandemic has changed how we live. Throughout the world people were asked to stay home in order to stay safe. This goes against our innate human behaviour, we are for the most part, social beings. Life continues behind windows and in this project I tried to capture what life is like looking out into a seemingly empty outside world.

From birthday parties to divided relatives, from empty churches to adapting business, life continued in a quiet way, unwitnessed by the majority.. All images were taken within 2 kms of our home in Barna, Galway located along the Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland. At this time a strict 2km radius was applied to each household who could use this area for exercise and essential purchases.
