Family Photoshoots - choosing the right location - Parks
Parks are easily accessible and suitable for all ages. Lots of open space and variety of grounds can allow you to have a photoshoot which feels like you went to multiple locations.
Parks are a good location for very young Babies due to the area being easily accessible you can bring a stroller which can be used in between photos and a storage area where you can bring your diaper bag full of all your essentials and your favourite blankets where we can set up an outdoor scene.
Toddlers and younger kids will be truly free in a park. Lots of grassy areas means they can run in whatever direction they wish. Some parks, like Rinville in Oranmore, also have a paved walkway through a woods which creates a sense of adventure. This same park also has a playground which is always a good distraction if any of the kids aren’t really on form - sometimes it is worth taking a break and allowing them time to play to get them back happy to stand still long enough to get a photo with mum and dad! We all know it’s all about compromise!
Tweens and Teens may find a photoshoot in a park a little bit uncomfortable, as they are usually busier and there are more people around. It is worth noting that I do not look like the stereotypical photographer as I use fixed lens which are small don’t wear any form of body harness with cameras attached. However one of the ways to over come any self conscious teens is to allow them to bring something they enjoy, a football, skateboard, anything that they can use to relax and the photos can be taken as they play.
Pets are used to parks so bringing them for your photoshoot here is no problem - please remember to pack a lead and a doggie bag !
Couples Many parks offer such variety of backgrounds, woods, water, ruins and long grasses that a photoshoot can versatile and suit any occasion.
