Meet Joanne from Cork
Joanne is a true example of a modern Irish woman. After her father passed away in 2004 she moved to Galway with her mum and sister. She has gone from not really knowing anyone to knowing the majority of people in the city. Even as we walked the prom, where her international presenting career started out of the back of a van, she is frequently stopped by people for a quick chat. Joanne is personable and driven. She multitasks while she is multi-tasking! Apart from the toddlers in my life I have never met anyone with as much energy as Joanne.
Joanne has always focused this energy into sport and has had a varied sporting career. From camogie to basketball, hockey to Tag Rugby and Irish dancing in between, she even lined out for Galwegians and Connacht Rugby Ladies team at one stage. She constantly has her runners with her and will go for a run any chance she gets especially when traveling. She has raced triathlons since 2009 with the Galway Triathlon club, competing at all distances including a full distance race of 1.9k swim, 180k bike followed by a marathon in 2013. She had taken a break from racing due injury but will return to racing next year starting with IM 70.3 in Mallorca and has some big plans up her sleeve for later in the year. Joanne has managed to turn her passion into her career.
After 11 years working in a fundraising capacity for two National Charities, Joanne decided to go out on her own and formed Tri Talking Sport. You may recognise Joanne from her social media posts, which she admits to being slightly addicted to. Or you may have seen her providing sports commentary for local and national sports events, such as Run Galway Bay, Streets of Galway, Rock n Roll Dublin or Tough Mudder Ireland. Joanne is well known in triathlon circles as the "Irish Voice of Ironman". This brings her all over the UK and in 2017 will see her travel much further afield. Despite lots of travel both at home and abroad Joanne loves nothing better than coming home to Galway.
