Faces of Galway 41/100

Meet Linda from Rosmuc.

On a windy September day we met Linda in Spiddal. Well used to windy conditions from years of sailing, Linda was happy to battle the elements to get a photo taken. For those who have watched Ros na Rún, Corp Agus Anam or The Running Mate, Linda is a familiar face. It seems she is about to become even more recognised.

Linda is this years winner of the Irish Screen America's prestigious Rising Star Award for a short filmmaker. She won this for her short film Adulting which premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh earlier this year. She wrote, co-directed and played the main role, Jane in this short. Already she has had screenings in LA, New York and San Francisco.

Linda feels compelled to write and act. Even though she feels it is something needs to do she gets great satisfaction out of it. When writing "Adulting" , Linda really wanted to convey a message about modern Ireland. She felt that Ireland can be represented in an old fashioned way. This was her chance to show the world we are a race of sophisticated and intelligent people, who live in one of the most beautiful places on Earth.

The next screening of "Adulting" will take place at the Cork Film Festival in November. Make sure you check the website to get your tickets. In the meantime why don't you follow the Facebook page here for more details.
