Roadtrips

After entering the Volkswagen Snapshot "Road Trip" Competition, we started thinking about road trips and why we love them so much. Growing up in a family of ten, holidays for me were nearly always based in Ireland. Andy grew up in a family of four but they also spent the majority of their holidays domestically, in the South West  corner of England. For us both we remember the fun involved in packing up your bag and squeezing it into the car boot already filled with buckets and spades and the realistic set of windbreakers. Checking for the twentieth time that yes you had your small purse/wallet with your pocket money that you got to spend on treats during the week. In my case it was always chocolate!

As adults we have been lucky enough to drive through countries like the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Iceland and through the Southern Countries of Africa. We both agree that the most exciting part of our trip still remains the same. That moment when you pick up your hire car/4x4/bushcamper and head to the local supermarket. Filling the shopping trolley with food, water, firewood, beer and of course chocolate...road tripping can mean 10 - 12 hour days in the car for us so it's essential to keep our sugar levels high!

Over the next few weeks we'll share the story behind some of our favourite road trip photos but for now we ask your help. Please give us a vote in the road trip category! We have two entries; pick your favourite and we'll share the story behind them next week! To vote just click here.
