Meet Martina from Claregalway.
Martina is a well known name around Galway but she is usually behind the camera rather than in front of it. As one of Galway's most popular PR photographers her work appears in regional and national press, but Martina wasn't always a photographer.
While completing a Business degree in Athlone I.T. Martina, like many Irish people at the time, applied for a green card for the USA. She was successful in her application and the day after she completed her studies she was on a plane to New York City. A marketing career in the publishing industry followed and in her time there she has travelled throughout the majority of the states. While working as an executive recruiter in marketing in Silicon Valley, in San Francisco, the economic crash started to occur and Martina made the decision to move back to Ireland.
Having always loved photography as a hobby Martina started to focus on turning her hobby into a career. Ever learning and expanding her skills Martina has worked as a wedding, corporate and press photographer, but now her new love is equine photography. This fine art photography grew out of her love of horses and the beauty of their structure and form. From looking at the images (click here) it is obvious she has captured the true character of her subjects while creating a work of art. Her use of light allows the subject to be photographed in a way to create an epic portrait.
While Martina has citizenship in the USA and would love to be able to spilt her time behind Galway and there. Who knows what opportunities they may bring, but we are sure that whatever it is, it will be fun, creative and most definitely successful.
