Faces of Galway 70/100

Meet Julian from Windsor.

In a remote part of Connemara exists a world of fantasy. Tarfful and Grummgar tower over a collection of Star Wars masks; while a ride-on Tauntaun is being created for one of the world's biggest Star Wars collectors. Julian the is owner of the renowned Order 66 Creatures and Effects. A multi award winning workshop which creates creatures, costumes and effects for film, TV and private collectors internationally.

By the age of seven Julian already knew what he wanted to do with his life. He created a Darth Vader costume from a balloon and papier-mâché and told his dad that he was going to create costumes when he grew up. With a career in special effects already planned out it was just a matter of training, but where to start? With no special effects course on offer, Julian's first course took place in the London College of Fashion. He spent more time learning about leg waxing than make-up, but the dedicated make up classes helped him to perfect his skills. He also did a course in theatre production and more bizarrely trained as a dental technician. The later has come in very handy when he creates teeth for wearable suits; usually bought by collectors or Cosplayers.

Julian has worked on film and TV sets and has done everything from model making to art directing. But he is most recently known for his latest Batman costume. A 3D printed suit and 23 working gadgets earned Julian a place in the Guinness World Record (2017 edition) for the "most functional gadgets on a Cos-Play suit". However he has already broken the record by adding the 24th working gadget! Julian regularly attends Cosplayer conventions throughout the world and seems to constantly impress the crowds and, win awards, with his creations. With the ever growing world of fantasy at his fingertips we are looking forward to seeing what he will create next. Make sure you follow him on Facebook here
