Meet Shane from Meath.
At the age of 16 Shane started his art journey. He started as a graffiti artist but quickly moved into other areas of art. After studying visual communication at University, Shane started to use his art to explore many different social issues.
When we met Shane at his recent exhibition in Galway his work was exploring the theme of home and identity. To us his work spoke to us about finding light when all you see is the dark. We questioned how you find a way out of a darkness that is squashing your every being? This theme seems to be a reoccurring focal point in his most recent work. Even his street murals, which are distinctive and easy to spot around the city, have a tunnelling effect. Bold colours draw us towards a bright centre.
From looking at Shane's art (website here)you can clearly see the influence of both his graphic design background and his years as a graffiti artist. Combining them both Shane is at his happiest when he works on large street murals. He loves showing his art in a public space and seems to really enjoy discussing it and exploring how it is viewed by others.
Shane is now in a happy place and wants to spread this. One of his latest projects "A thousand happy faces" is a positive mindset project visualised as a happy yellow square emoji created by Shane. If you would like to get involved just follow the instructions on his Facebook page here.
