Meet Hannah from Doughiska.

Hannah has lived in Galway for 18 out of her 19 years, she still isn't an Irish citizen. Her mum is from Trinidad and her father from Wales, she was born in Spain but spent the first year of her life in Trinidad. Socially and culturally Hannah feels Irish, but in order for her to become an Irish citizen, rather then a British citizen, she has to pay in excess of €1,000. As she as just finished school and is currently looking for employment this seems to Hannah to be a costly and unfair system. 

Hannah lives in one of Ireland's most multicultural areas. She describes spending her younger years as always being outside. The houses were small so her friends would gather on doorsteps rather then in each other's homes. When the youth club started they would go and meet there. Having a hot chocolate, tea and now coffee became the focus of their meetings. Hannah is now on a mission to visit every cafe in Galway. She already knows which have the best offers, best coffee and best "free from" ranges. 

Hannah was diagnosed with IBS during her Leaving Cert but she still managed to get her college art course. However after the first week she realised she physically wasn't able for the intensive nature of a project driven course, and had to leave. On the positive side she realised that she definitely wants to work in film, with a focus on prop making. Hannah is currently working on creating a handbag from a book.  She is also in the process of starting a blog which she will use to document her process and design projects. We will post an update when the blog is live; this creative and driven girl is definitely one to watch!
