Meet Geraldine from Galway
Sometimes you meet someone and you know that they are the centre of a world that is moving and moving quickly. Geraldine is one of those people, she is the first and last face you'll see when you enter and leave the doors of The Fisherman Restaurant in Salthill. It is at this central point along the famous Prom that the restaurant sits. Glass fronted to allow you a moment of calm as the waves crash on the beach, the children squeal as they cycle widely away from their parents, the dogs yelp in excitement at the runners over taking them and the sounds of a saxophone fills the air! Promenade life is hectic and The Fisherman is right in the middle of it. Geraldine is helping her son, Patrick, to bring together two worlds into one. Geraldine grew up in a family who ran a successful public house and worked with her husband and his family to develop a strong fleet of fishing vessels but now she likes to "help out" in her sons restaurant to help develop family traditions and make them even stronger.
Call into The Fisherman for a plate of cracking crab claws, fresh from Bertie in the Aran Islands - yum!
