Faces of Galway 61/100
Meet Oscar from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.
"Fashion changes, but style endures." This is Oscar's mantra and when we met him it is obvious Oscar is definitely one of the most stylish men in Galway. There aren't many people we know you can wear a trilby hat with such style and confidence!
Oscar grew up in Zimbabwe but at the age of 8 his family moved to Johannesburg, South Africa. The notorious Robert Mugabe was ruling Zimbabwe and as the economy declined life was getting very difficult. While South Africa was better, his future was still uncertain. Oscar's dad had himself been educated in England. He knew he could only really give his children the best chance at life by moving to Europe. At the age of 11, Oscar found himself in Athlone. A year and a half later and he moved to Galway. When he was 16 his parents bought a house in Tuam and it was here he finished his second level education.
Oscar went on to GMIT to study a degree in Business Studies, with a focus on information management in his last year. He received an honours degree but is now struggling to find work in that area. While this could have been a negative period for some, Oscar has found a new passion to follow. He is now working in clothes store Next and loves his job. He is finding daily inspiration for his style and enjoys helping people find clothes that suit them best.
Oscar has always loved style and is a big fan of suits and hats. He loves colours and isn't afraid to wear a white, African bought, suit even on a rainy Galway day. When Oscar wears a more classic coloured suit he will wear bright socks to add a pop of colour. He believes that everyone should have a wardrobe of stylish clothes which can be mixed and matched to create a combination of outfits depending on your mood. Small details help to create an outfit so he is here to help Galway men chose those little extras that help create your overall style. Oscar would love to help more men learn how to dress for their shape and has set up his own website where you can get personalised advice. So to all our male followers, or ladies who like to style their men, why don't you get in touch with Oscar. He will help you mix and match outfits that portray your personality, mood and lifestyle.
