Faces of Galway 47/100
Meet Mary from Rosscahill.
When Mary left school she headed into Galway City and got an administrative job in O' Donnellan and Joyce Auctioneers. She has since risen through the departments and ranks. Having worked in viewings, valuations and marketing, she now works primarily with bank repossessions. Working with investment repossessions can be a very difficult and a very drawn out process. This is also a very emotional job as she is helping people to buy and sell their homes. Emotions become fraught and it is Mary's job to try keep each party happy. Sometimes it can be a very stressful job and in order to cope with it all Mary puts on her runners and heads to the prom.
Mary has always loved water. On holidays she will always go on boat trips. In Galway she will often head down to Woodquay to clear her head or eat her lunch. The soothing sounds of the water and the bustle of the birds helps Mary to reset before she heads back into the highly charged business of auctioneering. Ironically Mary is unable to swim and has a fear of being in water that she has not yet been able to conquer. However she is a very driven person who doesn't do anything by half. We are sure that when she has time to focus on her swimming she will easily conquer this fear.
